Majestic 40 at Gardener's Ridge

building a Wisdom Majestic in North Kellyville

Every cloud has a silver lining

OK, so this is me trying to look on the positive side of life. Sad to say but the build has dragged me down at different times and my hubby has been telling me to be more positive.

Well first positive step I’ve made is not to blast Mr Glass Half Full with some vitriolic response. Just joking!

wine half full

Last week Wisdom told us that the Blanco double oven we had chosen has been discontinued. We had upgraded to this oven and separate 900mm gas cooktop over the standard freestanding range cooker and designed our kitchen around it.

They tried to work around it by suggesting an Omega double oven instead. However I wasn’t too keen on that as

  • I didn’t know the brand
  • I was worried about the quality as it was a lot cheaper
  • It didn’t match the rest of the appliances

So after hot footing it down to look at ovens, looking at the special offers and thinking on my feet I came up with a plan. Delete all the Blanco appliances from our Tender and replace them with Miele.

Works for me 🙂

Wisdom came to the party and credited us back for all the Blanco appliances. They did point out, which I already knew, that this wouldn’t be a full retail price refund as they bulk buy and get good discounts. So now there will be two single ovens in the oven housing rather than the double oven and microwave.

I toyed with the idea of a warming drawer to put even more icing on the cake but the price was the same as an oven and the oven would prove more versatile.

I already have a very basic microwave which was going to live in the walk in pantry anyway so that’s no great loss. Why the pantry I hear you ask? Well I only use it for porridge and Christmas pudding and it was going to be for the sole use of my youngest son as he would have been banned from using the new microwave. Goodness knows what concoctions he blasts to death in there late at night but copious quantities of BBQ sauce and cheese are involved.

So I’m happy, happy, happy. Once the order is confirmed I can give Timpelle all the dimensions and have the kitchen plans redrawn. Did I mention I was happy??

In fact I’m so happy that I filled that aforementioned glass right up to the top a time or two to celebrate.

Having lived here as a child in the 60's I fell in love with Australia and always hoped to one day be able to visit again. So when the opportunity came to move here with my husband's job we decided nothing ventured nothing gained and decided to go for it even though it was hard to leave our family and friends behind in the UK. So now we're here lock, stock and barrel, children and pets too and embarking on building a new home.

  1. Yay for the unexpected win! I’d love a Miele but we were limited to Metricon’s very small range. Your hubby sounds like my hubby. DH is the quintessential glass half full kinda person especially when it comes to the build. He’s put his foot down and told me not to cause any more trouble! Stop nitpicking at imperfections. He just wants to move in warts and all! Take the win Dea, you deserve it😄

    • Thanks Sheilzy,
Initially we were told Blanco or Blanco so this is like Christmas come early for me 😀 . The salesman wasn’t in today so I will be there first thing tomorrow. Only one sleep to go. LOL.

  2. Good work on the ovens!
Love that poster by the way – clearly more room for wine! 🙂
