What a difference a month makes

I’m back from my trip to the UK! It was lovely to catch up with both friends and family and I even managed to squeeze in an inspection of our house there which we are renting out.

My apologies as you can see I failed to update my blog as I dashed around. I couldn’t bring myself to post without pictures and hadn’t managed to master posting and photos from my iPad before I left. Something else to add to my ‘to do’ list.

Hubby had done a good job as Project Manager in my absence and had kept me abreast of progress via emails and SmugMug photos. I managed to contain myself and not get him to drive me to the site en-route back from the airport, I lasted until the afternoon  🙂 Even though it wasn’t sunny it still looked great to me.

This is how it was on June 4th as I left with the brickies on site:

This is what it looked like on July 1st :

For those in the UK the bricks are given an acid wash on completion to clean them up so they will eventually look all tickety boo. Meanwhile this is what has been happening in my absence:

Normal service shall be resumed now I’m back and almost over the jet lag 🙂

Having lived here as a child in the 60's I fell in love with Australia and always hoped to one day be able to visit again. So when the opportunity came to move here with my husband's job we decided nothing ventured nothing gained and decided to go for it even though it was hard to leave our family and friends behind in the UK. So now we're here lock, stock and barrel, children and pets too and embarking on building a new home.

  1. Re what a difference a month makes: I’ll get brickbats for this comment I’m sure, but your absence and the progress were not related I am sure!😄😉😳

  2. Wow wow wow! Bet you were excited to see the house taking shape! Exterior looks almost done. Roll on interior. Can’t wait to see your lovely kitchen😄

  3. Thanks Sheilzy. Bricks were finished today and the Colorbond roof went on yesterday 🙂
The bricks look like a dog’s dinner until they acid wash them but I’m happy with the progress.

First neighbours have moved in across the street so our new community is really taking shape 🙂

  4. Welcome back! What amazing progress! I almost wish I could go away and come back to see a huge amount of work done.

    • Thanks trixee.

It was a good point to be away as I wanted to see the slab laid and I definitely want to be around for the interior electrics etc. Now I want to fast forward to being in 🙂

  5. Another wow from me! Great progress.
