Construction Plans

Well it looks like I’m a monkey’s uncle as Wisdom have come up with the Construction plans bang on ten working days 🙂 . Unfortunately there were errors so they had to be redrawn and now they need further fixes which all takes time.

I’m not sure if I am nit picking but if they are a legal document then I want them to be correct down to the fine detail. Having read the different threads on the HomeOne building forum

http://forum.homeone.com.au/

if a problem arises down the line the different builders will refer to the plans and say ‘… well you signed them off…’.

They will not issue our End Panel until our construction plans are signed off which is a bit of a pain as our bank won’t work off the Draft End Panel. Hopefully they will update the plans today and then we can sign them off and move forward.

I was told to expect the plans on Tuesday so I was caught on the hop when they arrived on Monday. Instead of waiting for them to appear in my inbox I spent the day in Sydney with a friend and walked over the Harbour Bridge to climb the Pylon.

The Chinese New Year Festival is in full swing in Sydney and you can see the Lanterns of the Terracotta Warriors at Hickson Road Reserve at Dawes Point from the Pylon.

Project Pouch

Meanwhile I have been busy with my work in progress of making pouches for  joeys and possums orphaned in the bush fires.

[my mother’s trusty 1970’s Bernina which I inherited and is still going strong 🙂 ]

As I had to buy the flannel I thought I’d have a bit of fun. I made the largest size for joeys and if they shrink in the wash they’ll fit the possums instead!

Update: Looks like I’ll be washing them as I just saw this…

Having lived here as a child in the 60's I fell in love with Australia and always hoped to one day be able to visit again. So when the opportunity came to move here with my husband's job we decided nothing ventured nothing gained and decided to go for it even though it was hard to leave our family and friends behind in the UK. So now we're here lock, stock and barrel, children and pets too and embarking on building a new home.

  1. Those pouchs are such a great idea! What a terrific thing to do.
Regarding plans, I think it depends on your builder and how much you trust them, but it’s always best to have errors addressed straight away. You could also ask them if they allow you to make variations during construction, some of them will.

    • Thanks trixee!
I’m sure our builder would let us make variations during construction but I dread to think what they would charge. Think I’ll make friends with the SS instead 🙂 I wonder what flavour of slab he prefers…

      • It’s probably worth just asking the question, it was actually high on our list when deciding which builder to go with. At least then you’ll know what you’d be up for anyway. 🙂 But making friends with the as is always a good idea anyway 🙂

  2. Hey there, just letting you know I nominated you for a Liebster Award https://oursphouse.wordpress.com/2015/03/07/liebster-award/ 🙂
