We’ve been pegged!

For those of you wondering what I am on about here is a close up :

Woo Hoo!

Sad to say but this has made us happy 🙂 .

We have been waiting on these pegs a while and then I realised they were not placed quite where I expected.

Apparently thanks to my friends on the HomeOne Forum for informing me – the pegs mark the area to be scraped not the actual slab dimensions .

Just pleased to see us moving forwards towards the actual build 🙂

Also today we received our Final Colour Schedule to sign off so now I’m panicking about our colour selections. Mainly why nobody else has chosen our Colourbond roof colour…

Perhaps nobody else has been subjected to the temperature extremes that our rental has 🙂

Hubby says we can paint it down the line if all else fails …..

Having lived here as a child in the 60's I fell in love with Australia and always hoped to one day be able to visit again. So when the opportunity came to move here with my husband's job we decided nothing ventured nothing gained and decided to go for it even though it was hard to leave our family and friends behind in the UK. So now we're here lock, stock and barrel, children and pets too and embarking on building a new home.

  1. So which roof colour did you choose? Nice pegs!

    • Thanks Johanne!
I fancy Colorbond ‘Paperbark’ from their Classic Range as I wanted a light coloured roof but I’ve only seen it on one other house.
I can’t include pictures in my comments so I have updated my Exterior Colours page to show the house which influenced my choice. The PGH bricks and colorbond colours are the actual ones used in this house.

  2. Hi Lunar62

How exciting. We are a long way from there. We just got out quotation today.

Did your builder provide for dirt removal, or have you got that responsibility to remove it. Have they given you any indication on how much dirt will be required to be removed ?.

    Thanks

    • Hi Linda,
Yes Wisdom will remove/ fill for a price over the 500mm cut & fill they include in their site costs.
They all charge quite heftily for removal as it costs them to dispose of it. Now that we are going split level but raising the rear garden we probably won’t need that much removed.
Hope your tender was good are you pleased with it?

      • Yes got our quotation back on Friday. Still going over it. They do not take away the dirt. So a little worried how much there will be. They have quoted $4950 for the rain garden and they take the dirt from that. They have allowed 60 lineal meters for piers, hope that’s enough. Its scary at the beginning cause your not sure of what they are going to find. Also the BAL rating is worrying me. Cause if it comes back high it just increases costs.

Who did you get a quote from for your Stainless steel stacker sliding doors from Wisdom ? MDJ do not include blinds or screens. Had an estimate for Crimsafe, I nearly fell over.

      • Good news that you have your quotation now. We should get MDJ to do our rain garden as yours is less expensive 🙂 Does yours include plants and stones etc? Couldn’t believe it when ours didn’t. It really is a pain in the proverbial.
Good luck with your BAL rating are you in the process of getting a BAL report done?
We are BAL12.5 and the bits that hurt are the sliding/stacking screens as you have discovered. I don’t know who Wisdom use for them but we have just gone for what ever they offer but improved the locks. We didn’t go for gutter guard through them as it was rather pricey so we have parked that for the time being.
We are off to the pool show this weekend to get some ideas and costings … and then an inflatable paddling pool probably 🙂

      • Good luck with the pool show. We are a long way off that. We are to exchange on the land this Friday. With Settlement being 16.3.15. Just that my hubby is a triple checker with prices, before we go ahead. God help me if things don’t come to my estimates lol.
