Majestic 40 at Gardener's Ridge

building a Wisdom Majestic in North Kellyville

Panto horse

Well it’s that time of year and Christmas is fast approaching.

The building industry closes down for a month to enjoy their Summer holidays and for the tradies to escape working in the heat of an Aussie Summer. The Head Office staff will return to work beginning of January but the Christmas shut down on the 19th feels like the finish line in a race and all of us budding home builders want to cross that line in first place.

At the moment it feels like I’m in a Pantomime horse race and I know which end of the Panto horse I am ….

I like the finish line in this race though 🙂

This one is for a good cause on Sunday 14th December 2014 in Greenwich, UK.

We had hoped to have our slab down before Christmas and then full steam ahead after the shut down. However that is not to be and though Santa can work miracles I don’t think he’ll pull this one off.

If we are lucky we will be submitted for our CDC approval before the shut down and have our End Panel sorted in January.

When I started my blog I said there would be ups and downs and at the moment it feels more down than up. Probably because on December 15th it will be a year since we put our deposit down with Wisdom. So perhaps it should be a roller coaster ride rather than a panto horse race. Most times I get on a roller coaster I shut my eyes, hang on tight and scream as we hurtle to the end 🙂

Having lived here as a child in the 60's I fell in love with Australia and always hoped to one day be able to visit again. So when the opportunity came to move here with my husband's job we decided nothing ventured nothing gained and decided to go for it even though it was hard to leave our family and friends behind in the UK. So now we're here lock, stock and barrel, children and pets too and embarking on building a new home.

  1. Fingers crossed for a roller coaster ride in 2015!

    • Hopefully this time next year we will be decorating our new home for Christmas. I’ve already bought an extra Xmas tree and put in the power points for it and for the balcony fairy lights 🙂

  2. Aww I feel your frustrations! The race is on for us to have slab before Christmas. I’m quietly losing hope! It’s been 2 weeks since our file got handed over to construction and we still haven’t heard from our Site Manager. Arrgh😢

Here’s hoping you get CDC approval soon and a fantastic run next year!

  3. Heard from Jo earlier today and she was sending our documents to council this afternoon! She thinks Hills Shire Council will take 5-6 weeks to approve so hopefully we’re in end panel territory towards the end of January. Fingers crossed!
