Landscaping and Electrical

Landscaping and Electricals – our first and last appointment

Wisdom Landscaping:

We have had our plans back and signed them off after a few tweaks mainly to do with slab protection.

The large service free zone at the left hand side is a future pool and spa area but will be grassed until then.  The bulk of the planting will be native species attractive to birds. The driveway and front paths will be flecked concrete all other paths will be matching non-flecked concrete. The alfresco area and pool will be travertine pavers.

We wait for the quote to carry out the works.

p.s Hope you like the new blog header photo taken this weekend in the Spring sunshine.

Our last but also the hardest appointment – so much to do in so little time.

As standard from Wisdom you get one light point and one double power point per room with the largest areas getting more. Well we put quite a few more in to say the least! Double power points became quads and we’ve probably still missed a plug or two around the place. Hubby put a lot of effort into what we would need and where, even going so far as to plan where the furniture (to scale) would go.

[Side note: This showed that we have the smallest bed in the household with the most occupants (the two of us, one rather belligerent cat and one very rotund cat).]

I imagined myself hoovering and steam cleaning around the place and seeing how far the electric flex would go then adding another socket. I have put a power point in the understairs cupboard for a future roomba robotic cleaner – very Jetson’s!

Probably end up as

We had a reasonable provisional allowance in the tender which we thought was a tad light but we blew that out of the water. We really could have done with a longer appointment in order to have the time to review it all thoroughly and feel less rushed but hopefully it is all good.

Having lived here as a child in the 60's I fell in love with Australia and always hoped to one day be able to visit again. So when the opportunity came to move here with my husband's job we decided nothing ventured nothing gained and decided to go for it even though it was hard to leave our family and friends behind in the UK. So now we're here lock, stock and barrel, children and pets too and embarking on building a new home.

  1. I love seeing landscape plans. Where is North? I’m guessing on the side of your veggie patch and future pool. You have a nice big block to work with and haven’t completely filled it with house. We got our first robotic vacuum on Sunday and I spent half of yesterday watching it clean!

    • Oops I cut off the North arrow but you are correct it is just about where you said!
      Must fix that tomorrow 🙂
My father has had a robotic mower for about 20 years and derives great pleasure from watching it do all the hard work.
