Majestic 40 at Gardener's Ridge

building a Wisdom Majestic in North Kellyville

Drum Roll ……

Hey Presto!  …and here are the first set of our Wisdom Majestic 40 plans.

MAJ40 GF Plans

MAJ40 FF Plans

We are really pleased with them, there is some fine tuning to be done but overall it is pretty close.

Main changes to the basic plan are:

Butler’s Pantry: Enlarged to provide a separate Walk In Pantry (just!). Store and Laundry have been reduced slightly to achieve this.

Looking at the plans the cavity sliding door (CSD) will be changed to 2 hinged LIN1 doors. The Butler’s Pantry fit out will be a continuation of the Kitchen with matching cupboards, Caesarstone benchtop and glass splashback. The windows need to be changed to have the same height and also to be sliding to catch cross ventilation to help our BASIX requirements. FYI BASIX encourages you to reduce your energy use through specific design strategies for lighting, heating, cooling, and ventilation.

Kitchen: Microwave will be in a tall housing with an extra built in oven.

Cupboard under the stairs (aka Harry Potter’s room):  Always useful to have extra storage. Not quite as big as my parents’ one that Granny hid from the thunder storm in though.

Outdoor Leisure: extended to fit table and seating area plus potential Outside Kitchen in the dim and distant future.

Master Suite: 2011 layout for reasons mentioned previously – see earlier Aliens post under ‘Floor Plans & Tenders’  🙂 . We have included an extra wardrobe where the media alcove was but having seen it on the plans we will delete it and revert to the media alcove. However we will continue with no TV in the bedroom – aim for calm…

Pop out bed head with shelves either side. Not quite sure what will be displayed on these apart from dust until I build up my shell collection. The cats will probably annex the lower ones (jumping is not their forte!)

My next cunning plan is to create a long window seat storage unit in the bay window for quilts and blankets. This will double as a reading nook and cat viewing point but will be done post handover.

En-suite: Freestanding bath – can’t wait for this beauty. The sharp eyed amongst you may have noticed where the towel rail has been put – not by us – needless to say it will be moved into the actual en-suite!

Bathroom: Loo incorporated into main bathroom. If I could have incorporated a decent sink into the WC I would have kept it separate. Since there is a Powder room with shower downstairs there shouldn’t be any problems at rush hour in the morning.

Upper Lounge: By moving the loo we can fit shelves into the Media alcove. These will display not dust but the boys DVDs etc. Can I contain my inner OCD and not arrange them in alphabetical order – doubtful.

We have gone over the A3 plans in great detail and have created a (very large) document with our queries and corrections. Between my OCDness and my husband’s love of diagrams and technical manuals the poor lady at Wisdom won’t know what has hit her! I did give her a heads up but she said detail and diagrams are good and to feel free to ask lots of questions.

First question: How long to update the plans and move on to the next stage??

Having lived here as a child in the 60's I fell in love with Australia and always hoped to one day be able to visit again. So when the opportunity came to move here with my husband's job we decided nothing ventured nothing gained and decided to go for it even though it was hard to leave our family and friends behind in the UK. So now we're here lock, stock and barrel, children and pets too and embarking on building a new home.

  1. Looks great Lunar and you’ve obviously been head down in those plans since Sunday afternoon studying every little bit of detail! Itchy feet already waiting for ours to to the same.

    • IWe have been a busy bees! (oops sorry – this was certainly a joint effort!)
Now one final read through of the Homeone ‘Things you forgot’ summary and then to send off our weighty epistle. We have probably over egged the pudding but better to have it written down somewhere to refer back to if it all goes pear shaped. Hopefully your plans will arrive before the end of the month.
Its a bit quiet on the GR thread, I was hoping some neighbours would pop on after the coffee morning.

  2. Your plans looks amazing!! Love the pantry within a pantry hehe 🙂 Can’t wait to see the end product!

    • Thank you! I really liked the Butler’s Pantry in the Ambassador 41 at the Ponds and a similar WIP in the MJH Monaco so this is my take on recreating it in the Majestic.
Just caught up on your blog. I somehow managed to miss your post in May – love the picture of you jumping for joy in your beautiful kitchen.

  3. Wow, so spacious. I love the big open kitchen/living area. Your bench/nook plan is great too. You can never have too many nooks.
